Principles of Natural Resource Management BIO-417
In order to function in today’s Natural Resources Management world, one needs a scientific grounding in ecology and ecosystem function, as well as a strong grasp of resource policy and policy-making. It is the goal of this course to provide an introduction to the science and the politics of Natural Resource Management as it is practiced in the U.S. today. We will discuss the background and history that have gotten us here; the science and theory that are guiding how we approach management issues; and the policies that we have to integrate into science. Attendees will leave this course with a fuller understanding of how and why Natural Resource Management is practiced.
