Removal Process for RPMs
Hosted by U.S. EPA
Office of Superfund and Emergency Management
|
Removal Process for RPMs focuses on the various aspects of the removal process and methods for integrating removal actions at National Priorities List (NPL) sites to expedite Superfund response activities. The course provides a step-by-step review of removal actions, from initial site activities through closeout, helping Remedial Project Managers (RPMs) understand their role in the Superfund cleanup program. It explores approaches to evaluating and initiating removal actions, with an emphasis on challenges such as meeting applicable or relevant and appropriate requirements (ARARs) during removal actions. Participants engage in discussions about actual issues and problems that may arise during Superfund removal actions and explore resolutions. They are challenged to apply the information gained during the course to realistic exercises and case studies.
Course Objectives:
-
Understand the laws, regulations, policies, and processes involved in Superfund removal actions.
-
Identify removal authorities, recognize situations in which removal actions are appropriate, and initiate removal actions.
-
Summarize the steps necessary to implement the removal action and complete the required closeout procedures.
-
Apply the RPM’s newfound knowledge to address real-life situations.
The Removal Process for RPMs course is recommended for EPA Superfund RPMs involved in planning and conducting removal actions.
THIS COURSE IS NOT OPEN TO ACADEMIA, CONSULTANTS, CONTRACTORS OR ANY PRIVATE ENTITIES.
This course is offered free of charge to all registrants who are confirmed to attend.
