Site Management through CSM Development Enhanced with 3DVA
Site Management through CSM Development Enhanced with 3DVA: This course describes using project life-cycle conceptual site models (CSMs) to manage sites more effectively, and the use of 3-Dimensional Visualization and Analysis (3DVA) to enhance CSM development. This course emphasizes the foundational importance of the project life cycle CSM for understanding and communicating site conditions, guiding characterization and remediation activities, remedy selection and design, and making progress toward cleanup goals. This course stresses CSMs as an essential project management tool to be regularly reviewed and updated as part of Smart Scoping and systematic project planning activities.
The instructors will review practical tools and techniques for improving CSMs using 3DVA applications. 3DVA can assist site teams with facilitating advanced data analysis by integrating complex datasets into a comprehensive visual model of the site geology, hydrology, and contaminant chemistry. Additionally, 3DVA can help resolve technical discrepancies between project stakeholders and support decision-making based on a unified understanding of site conditions. Course explains the benefits of 3DVA for CSM development, data gap identification, and remedy optimization supported by lessons learned from Superfund optimization and technical support programs, case studies, and project highlights.
