General Information
Event Name: Remedial Design-Remedial Action (RD/RA)
Hosted By: U.S. EPA
Office of Superfund and Emergency Management
Event Description:

Remedial Design/Remedial Action (RD/RA) focuses on the RD/RA phase of Superfund projects, addressing the objectives, issues, and challenges faced by Remedial Project Managers (RPMs) during response planning and implementation. The course provides a comprehensive examination of the RD/RA process, providing practical guidance to effectively implement the design and construction phases of a Superfund cleanup. It emphasizes the crucial role of the RPM in planning RD/RA projects, highlighting their responsibilities in managing contracting, scheduling, budgeting, and other aspects of the effort; coordinating activities with states and tribes; and conducting effective community relations efforts. Participants have the opportunity to work through realistic case studies that illustrate actual issues and problems that may arise.

Course Objectives:

  • Identify steps for implementing and completing an RD/RA project under Superfund.
  • Describe the overall effort required to conduct an RD/RA project and anticipate potential difficulties that may arise.
  • Describe the role of the RPM as the project manager.
  • Apply the skills developed to real-life situations.

The RD/RA course is recommended for EPA RPMs with two or more years of experience or those currently involved or soon to be involved in an RD/RA project. It also serves as a valuable refresher for more experienced RPMs, and may benefit other Federal Agency, state and tribal site managers involved in RD/RA projects.

Prerequisite: Remedial Process

THIS COURSE IS NOT OPEN TO ACADEMIA, CONSULTANTS, CONTRACTORS OR ANY PRIVATE ENTITIES.

This course is offered free of charge to all registrants who are confirmed to attend.
