On August 06, a training workshop will be provided for personnel who might observe spills or releases of oil products or hazardous materials into the environment. The agenda will cover recognizing spills, notifying appropriate agencies, and taking immediate response actions to minimize impacts to human health and the environment. Case studies of spill events will be reviewed. The training will be provided by staff from U.S. EPA Region 5 and the Michigan Department of Environment, Great Lakes and Energy. On August 07, a tabletop exercise involving a railroad incident that impacts the Chippewa River will be conducted for local responders.
