This course will provide a comprehensive overview on the assessment and cleanup of “Mad Chemists” (chemical hoarders). It will include the technical aspects of assessing such sites, including inventory strategies and identification of unknown chemicals. It will provide information on cleaning up these types of sites including the associated hazards and disposal issues. The class will include case studies on chemical hoarders, radioactive materials hoarders, and explosive hoarders.
