Passive Diffusion Bag Samplers for Volatile Organic Compounds in Ground Water

Passive diffusion bag (PDB) samplers are a simple and inexpensive way to sample ground water monitoring wells for a variety of volatile organic compounds. A typical PDB sampler consists of low-density polyethylene lay-flat tubing that is filled with distilled, deionized water and heat sealed at both ends. The bags are suspended in the monitoring well at the target horizon by a weighted line and allowed to equilibrate with the surrounding water (typically 2-weeks).
