A virtual MS Teams meeting with the Superfund Redevelopment Program team. This 30-minute session will be hosted by the National Association of Remedial Project Managers. Time will be allowed for the introduction of the Superfund Redevelopment Program and the services they provide to site teams and the audience to ask questions. Below is some background information on Superfund Redevelopment. Register to learn more!

Superfund Redevelopment for RPMs: An Introduction

Superfund Redevelopment supports the return of sites to safe and beneficial use and provides opportunities to encourage equitable development and address environmental justice concerns. Does your Superfund community want affordable housing, restored access to environmental and cultural resources, a craft brewery, park, solar array, urban farm, or mixed-use development? These are just a few Superfund site reuses happening across the country -- the possibilities are endless! Superfund Redevelopment can have significant economic impact, bringing jobs, employment, and increased tax revenues. Sales generated by businesses at Superfund sites in reuse totaled $74 billion in 2022, that’s more than four times the $18.9 billion that EPA spent cleaning up these sites. If you want to learn how you can make your site part of the reuse equation, this session is for you!

Facilitating the appropriate reuse of Superfund sites is a key part of the support that EPA's Superfund Redevelopment Program provides to RPMs and site teams. Superfund Redevelopment Program support includes tools, resources, and no-cost technical assistance to help identify site reuses that fit well with site remedies, conduct feasibility analyses, and to facilitate reuse discussions throughout the Superfund process. Identifying a site's reasonably anticipated future land use can inform the entire remedial process. For EPA, considering reuse is a critical part of a job well done, strengthening the Agency's mission to protect human health and the environment.
