The Training Exchange (Trainex) is the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency's (EPA) scheduling and registration platform for professional courses on hazardous waste management and remediation. The site serves as a single point of access for course descriptions, registration, and student records.

Course topics span a broad range of disciplines, including hazardous waste remediation, site characterization, risk assessment, emergency response, site and incident management, counter-terrorism, and community roles in site management and cleanup.

Training is delivered through multiple EPA programs, each specializing in distinct subject areas. Courses are available in a variety of formats including in-person, hybrid, live virtual, and self-paced recorded options, ensuring accessibility for professionals across different schedules and locations. The primary training programs to ensure readiness and preparedness of EPA, other federal agency, states, tribes, and local staff include:

  • The Environmental Response Training Program (ERTP) focusing on technical competencies for hazardous waste emergency response and site remediation, emphasizing safe and effective field operations.
