Remote sensing imagery and data, including aerial photography, satellite optical and thermal data, and hyperspectral data from airborne and UAS platforms, have been used to support site investigations, identify waste materials, and characterize soil contaminants. EPA and state partners have access to a wide variety of no-cost imagery that can assist with remediation planning, execution, and monitoring over time.
