Risk Management Programs - Techniques

This 3-day course provides technical information and auditing skills needed to conduct risk management programs (RMP) inspections and audits. This course is intended for: EPA inspectors; tribal, state and/or local implementing agency personnel; SERC/LEPC members; and other interested parties. It is presented in cooperation with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Chemical Emergency Preparedness and Prevention Office. The course is based on EPA Risk Management Programs for Chemical Accidental Release Prevention (40 CFR Part 68).
This course covers RMP filing requirements, submissions reviews, reading process system diagrams, hazard assessment techniques, process safety information, process hazard analysis techniques, maintenance and mechanical integrity, compliance audits, incident investigation techniques, Prevention Programs 2 and 3 inspection/audit issues, emergency response compliance issues, RMP references and resources, and EPA regional perspectives.
Private industry employees are allowed to attend this course for a nominal fee on a space available basis. It is taught in conjunction with the 1-day "Risk Management Programs - Basics" training course.
After completing this course, participants will be able to:
- Describe RMP filing requirements, submissions reviews, hazard assessment techniques, process safety information, process hazard analysis techniques, and reading process system diagrams as they relate to RMP inspections and audits.
- Describe maintenance and mechanical integrity, compliance audits, incident investigation techniques, Prevention Programs 2 and 3 inspection/audit issues, emergency response compliance issues, RMP references and resources, and EPA regional perspectives as they relate to RMP inspections and audits.

Tuition - Personnel from EPA, Other Federal Agencies, and State and Local Government DO NOT PAY TUITION for ERTP Courses. Tuition for University Staff, Community HAZMAT Teams, and Students is Also Waived. Personnel not directly employed by a government agency (e.g.. private industry, contractor, or unemployed) pay tuition of $500 and will be sent further information about how to pay tuition after they have registered.
